In this study, the researchers try to focus on business opportunities explored by women during the Pandemic and how they have helped their families during these tough times which later on have turned into successful entrepreneurs. The present paper investigates the business opportunities explored by women during covid-19 pandemic and its impact on their livelihood. For the purpose of this study the researchers interviewed 45 business women in the state of Goa. The difference between good or bad data can be explained as to how accurately the information is dispersed to the academic community. In these circumstances, it becomes significant for libraries to collectively come together and help each other by forming a resource sharing model. Across the globe numerous such models have been formed but most of them struggled to thrive on a long run. The present paper discusses the challenges faced by the resource sharing models and the possible solutions to overcome these problems for the smooth functioning of the consortia.Item Destination Life Cycle of Beach Shacks and Profits earned in each Stage(2022) Barretto, HelicThe Destination Life Cycle concept explains how a destination, resort, ora product develops over time and the successive stages it passes through. It also identifies the present stage a destination, resort or a product lie in its life cycle. The paperaims at identifying the stage of the Destination Life Cycle beach shacks lie at present in the State of Goabased on five selected parameters. It also evaluates the profitability of shacks in each stage of the destination life cycle. Beach shacks in the State of Goaare seasonal restaurants, located on the beach, serving food and beverages to the tourists. The study is quantitative in nature, based on a random sample of 250 shacks from a population of 400, collected during the months of October 2018 to May 2019 using structured questionnaire. The statistical tools used are Additive Point’sscoring technique and one-way ANOVA. The findings indicate that beach shacks lie in the Development Stage of the Destination Life Cycle and are earning the maximum profit in its Stagnation Stage.Item Destination Life Cycle of Goan Beach Shack(2021) Barretto, HelicItem Destination Life Cycle of Goan Beach Shacks(2021) Barretto, HelicThe study analyzes the stage of the Destination Life Cycle beach shacks lies at present in the State of Goa. Beach shacks are temporary restaurants located on the beach serving home-cooked food along with beverages. The study is quantitative in nature, based on a random sample of 250 respondents, collected during October 2018 to May 2019 using structured questionnaire. The statistical tools used are chi-square test, Butler‟s Tourism Area Life Cycle model, and the Additive Points scoring technique to model the Destination Life Cycle stage. The findings indicate that beach shacks lie in the Development Stage of the Destination Life Cycle based on the average number of tourist visits, average amount spent by tourists per visit, per person at a shack, average profits per month, and average monthly operating expenses of a shack. However, they lie in the Involvement Stage based on the average number of people employed at shacks.Item Socio-Economic Benefits of Goan Beach Shacks to the tourists – An Empirical Study(2018-07) Barretto, HelicGoa, a tiny State of India in terms of land area and having a population of 14.59 lakhs as per the 2011 census, attracts millions of tourists every year. Tourists are attracted towards the State mainly to visit its beautiful beaches although Goa has a lot more to offer to the tourists. The inflow of tourists provide employment, income, demand for local products and a higher standard of living to the people of Goa. A substantial percentage of Goans totally depend on tourism to earn their livelihood. The development of tourism Industry in the State, over a period of time has led to the emergence of new allied products and one of them is the beach shacks. Beach shacks are temporary restaurants located on the beach serving mostly Goan food and beverages to the increasing number of tourists every year. A few of them also provide accommodation to the tourists, close to the beach.Item Socio-Economic Contribution of Beach Shacks in Goa to the Shack Owners – An Empirical Study(2016) Barretto, HelicGoa, the smallest State of India by area, attracts each year millions of tourists both domestic as well as foreign. The inflow of tourists provides employment, income and a higher standard of living to the people of Goa. It also promotes investment and infrastructural development in the State. A few industries in the State are totally dependent on tourism for their survival and one of them is beach shacks. Beach shacks in Goa are ‘temporary restaurants, located on the beach, serving predominantly Goan food and beverages to the tourists every year’. They are erected by using locally available eco-friendly materials and are open for business during the tourist season each year. The present paper is based on a study conducted during the month of April and May 2016. The sample size considered are 32 shacks located at Baga, Batalbatim, Benaulim, Calangute, Colva, Mobor and Palolem beaches in Goa. The data was personally collected by preparing and administering a structured questionnaire to the shack owners. The Statistical tools used are crosstab and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results suggest that, shack improves communication skills, contributes in acquiring capital assets and helps in improving the standard of living of the shack owners.Item Tourist Satisfaction at Beach Shacks: Case Study Analysis(2020) Barretto, HelicTourists normally are not interested to stay in boring hotels because they want to explore the unknown around the world. In Goa, tourists prefer to stay in shacks as they offer excellent service and give a unique experience. Shacks in Goa are seasonal structures erected close to the beach. The present study intends to identify the services offered by beach shacks to the tourists that contribute to their satisfaction. The study is quantitative in nature, based on a random sample of 400 tourists, including 200 foreign nationals. The data was collected during the month of October to December 2019 using a structured questionnaire. Using Exploratory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Model the findings indicate that the Personalized Services, Leisure Services, and Convenience Services significantly contribute to the satisfaction of tourists visiting beach shacks in Goa
