Item A Case Study of the Economic Impact of Mining in Goa: Perceptions of the Reserved and General Population of a Mining Dependent Locality(International Journal of Research in Social Sciences 2016 vol 6, 2016) Falleiro, SavioMining has been an important industry in Goa for years. Operations of the industry were suspended due to orders of the Hon. Supreme Court of India. Much has been documented on the positive and negative effects of mining-the same often done by extreme pro and anti mining activists. The present paper is based on a field-based study involving households of a locality substantially dependent on mining being in close proximity to mining centres. Considering that the locality has a large number of people from ‘reserved’ backgrounds, the paper attempts to find if there was any significant association between the economic issues related to mining and the SC/ST, OBC and General backgrounds of the residents. The study which makes use of chi-square analysis, lists very significant findings, including those concerning the ‘reserved’ sections of population, and involving issues related to net economic effect of mining, health problems, government assistance for SC/ST and OBC sections etc.Item A Case Study of the Economic Impact of Mining in Goa: Perceptions of the Reserved and General Population of a Mining Dependent Locality(International journal of research in social science, 2016) Falleiro, SavioItem A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF 10+2 LEVEL COURSES AND ITS IMPACT ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE STUDENTS STUDYING IN THIRD YEAR, BACHELOR IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS(SHODH SARITA Vol. 7, Issue 26, April-June, 2020, 2020) Almeida, TracyThe evolving needs of technical education compel students at the 10+ 2 level to adhere to meet the needs of the entry level eligibility criteria. Therefore students who are unable to pursue Higher Education (HE) in engineering and other technical disciplines now stand a chance to enhance their technical knowledge through educational programmes like Bachelors in Computer Science, Bachelors in Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelors in Information Technology. BCA is one such programme offered at the Goa University in the ten colleges across the state of Goa. College courses are fundamentally different from high school courses and there needs to be a proper choice of subject courses at 10+2 level that will help students to bridge the gap and to meet the standards of HE (Conley et al, 2007). This paper seeks to ascertain the influence of a few educational attributes at the 10+2 level on the performance at TY in the BCAprogramme. It also intends to provide suggestions to students who intend doing HE in the BCAprogramme. Keywords : Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA), Mathematics (Math), Higher Education (HE), Computer Techniques (CT), 10+2 level, First Year (FY), Third Year(TY).Item A Cross-National Empirical Analysis of the Contribution of Fertility, Life Expectancy and Net Migration in Driving Contemporary and Future Population Ageing(Population and Economics 8(4): 64–91, 2024) Falleiro, SavioPopulation ageing is an unprecedented phenomenon witnessed by nations globally. Given contradictory findings in the literature regarding the major drivers behind this phenomenon, this study presents a robust cross-national empirical analysis of the contributions of fertility, life expectancy, and net migration to driving contemporary and future population ageing. The study addresses endogeneity and serial correlation by employing dynamic cointegrating regressions, specifically Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), based on data extracted from the United Nations Population Division for 72 nations spanning two periods: 1960-2020 and 2020-2050. The results indicate that nations in advanced ageing transitions, primarily developed nations, experienced comparatively lower fertility rates and higher life expectancy rates than those in early stages, with fluctuations observed in net migration. A statistically significant longrun dynamic cointegrating relationship is found among the three major drivers and population ageing. Declining fertility has been the primary driver of global population ageing from 1960 to 2020, followed by increasing life expectancy and, lastly, net migration. These results remain robust across the four sub-panels of nations based on age-transition categories. Projections suggest that population ageing will persist as a reality. However, regression estimates indicate that life expectancy will surpass fertility to become the primary driver of ageing in the future. The study raises doubt about the rejuvenating role of migration as a solution to population ageing and underscores the importance of further research in this area.Item A gender based study of spirit of nationality among undergraduate students in South Goa(Gyana, 2017) Marchon, TanyaItem A Review of Self-Service Technology Adoption in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry(Review of technologies and disruptive business strategies, 2024, 2024) Gore, SurabhiSelf-Service Technology (SST) is a disruptive technology that has reshaped customer interactions, increased efficiency, and enabled data-driven decision-making. Its impact continues to evolve as technology advances and customer expectations change, making it a key consideration for businesses in a dynamic landscape. This chapter delves into critical findings regarding the adoption and implications of SST in tourism and hospitality. The relevant studies are sourced from the Scopus database. A mixed literature review methodology was employed to review papers. The literature review findings show facets of SST adoption, shedding light on the intricate relationships between consumer readiness variables, context-specific influences, preferred SST features, and psychological attributes. The study reveals consumer preferences, including convenience, ease of use, and speed of service, as primary drivers of the adoption of SST. The bibliometric analysis reveals the scope for developing SST literature in tourism and hospitality. Collaborations among scholars, research and funding institutions could help provide the impetus. Research in SST security, sustainability, and resilience could help enhance the SST literature. Comparative studies evaluating SST's social and economic implications are also suggested.Item A Structured Literature Review of the Tourism Area Life Cycle Concept(Journal of Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being 2022, VOL. 10, NO. 1, 1–20, 2022) Gore, SurabhiThe tourism area life cycle is used to map the changes within the tourism destination on a temporal basis. The paper reviews the literature on the tourism area life cycle from 2003-2020. Articles appearing in journals having a cite score of 1.0 or higher were considered for the review process. The paper uses a structured review methodology and a widely accepted technique of content analysis to review the articles. The tourism area life cycle, as a concept, has traced its lifecycle. However, the use of the tourism area life cycle for tourism planning and strategy analysis is lacking. The authors recommend tourism area life cycle based research on macro-environmental and tourism-specific factors to identify strategies at the destination. Ex-post-facto research seeks to reveal the correlational relationship between the variables responsible for destination development. The paper also suggests tourism area life cycle research on accommodation units, restaurants, transport, infrastructure, market segments, and tourism attractions.Item A study of consumer behaviour with respect to online shopping(2018) Pires, AverylItem A study of job satisfaction among employees working in public and private sector organizations(2017) De Sa, Jonlen; De Sa, Alba MariaItem A study of service quality in Indian public sector banks using modified SERVQUAL model(Cogent Business & Management, 2023) Vaz, SoniaAssessment of service quality has been widely utilized in the service sector, especially in the banking industry. The present study aims to understand the influence of service quality on customer loyalty in Indian public sector banks. The service quality is quantified with the help of a modified SERVQUAL model using dimensions Reliability, Assurance, Tangibles, Empathy, Responsiveness, Charges, and Convenience. Structural equation modelling (SEM) indicated that among all the dimensions, Assurance, Empathy, Responsiveness, and Tangible were found to have a significant relationship with service quality. The banks must focus on bringing in innovation in these parameters to maintain a high quality of service and achieve higher satisfaction, which subsequently develops customer trust towards the company. By bringing innovative changes to improve the service quality, the banks can also increase their competitive advantage and customer retention as service quality has a significant relationship with customer loyalty.Item A study on health insurance of hoseholds in Varca(Gyana, 2019) Mendonca, FarahItem A study on investors preferences towards long term investment avenues in salcete taluka(2019) Baptista, Valencia Salvia; Goes, RachealItem A Study on the Attitude of Goan (India) Students towards Advertising(Saudi Journal of Business and Management Studies Vol-1, Iss-3(Aug-Oct, 2016):127-135, 2016-10) Costa, JuaoThe purpose of advertisements is to enhance buyer’s response to products or services offered by the firm, thus increasing its profitability.
