This purpose of the study was to understand how religiosity shapes superstitious beliefs in early adulthood. Early adulthood, a developmental stage characterized by identity exploration, value formation, and increasing independence, is a critical period for the development and consolidation of belief systems. This research examined the relationship between religiosity and superstitious beliefs among early adults aged 21–35 years. The sample consisted of 100 participants (48 males and 52 females) from urban and rural areas. The participants belonged to different religious backgrounds (41 Hindus, 28 Muslims, and 31 Catholics) and varied educational levels. Data was collected using standardized tools namely the Religious Attitude Scale (RRAS) by Rajamanickam (2004) and the Superstitious Attitude Scale (SAS) by Bhagwat (2006). Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics including Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation and t-test and ANOVA were used for data analysis. The findings revealed a negative correlation between religiosity and superstitious beliefs. No significant differences were found in superstitious beliefs and religiosity based on gender, residential area, and educational level. A significant difference was found in religiosity among early adults of residing in rural and urban areas. A significant difference was found among early adults across the three religions (Hindus, Christians and Muslims) with regards to religiosity and superstitious beliefs.
